Havana.- A new art gallery was inaugurated in the eastern city of Santiago de Cuba to promote the work of local artists.

The 1st Olmos Manuel Paneque in Memoriam Artistic Craftsmanship Salon was inaugurated in Santiago de Cuba to exhibit the works of artists from the province.

The new facility will host workshops and lectures on contemporary craftsmanship, and will contribute to the exchange of ideas and experiences among artists.

The salon is sponsored by the Santiago branch of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC), the Office of the City Historian, the Hermanos Saz Association and other institutions.

Olmos Manuel Paneque was born on July 24, 1920, and excelled as an artisan who worked on leather and metals. He did most of his work in Santiago de Cuba and Havana.
