Cuban Personality Receives National History Award

Havana.- Eusebio Leal, the historian of the City of Havana, received the 2003 National History Award.

The Award was granted at the 17th National Congress on History, held in central Cienfuegos province this month.

According to experts, the Award is an acknowledgment of Leal’s work at the service of peoples and culture, his contributions to rescue, preserve and defend the national heritage, his essence, and his tenacity and close relation with the community.

Leal, whose works include essays, books and lectures in favor of culture, is a renowned professor and has made great contributions to Cuba’s and other countries’ culture.

Prestigious Institutions from Latin America, Europe and the United States, among others, have shared Leal’s wisdom. He has received several awards in Cuba and abroad, as an acknowledgment of his work in defense of the peoples’ memory.
