Havana.- The largest Antillean Island boasts many attractions for those who love nautical activities, ranking 27 among the world’s most visited diving destinations.

Cuba has 37 diving centers and 150 internationally certified guides, as well as unique characteristics for diving.

Such companies as Cubanacán Náutica, Horizontes, Gaviota, Rumbos, Gran Caribe, Cubamar, Club Habana, among others, provide nautical services on both the north and south coasts.

The main diving destinations are Cayo Levisa, Havana, Varadero, Jardines del Rey, Santa Lucía, Guardalavaca, María la Gorda, Cayo Largo, Trinidad, Cienfuegos, Jardines de la Reina, Marea del Portillo and Santiago de Cuba.

Diving activities began to develop in Cuba in the 1970s, although they gained momentum in the late 1970s, when underwater photography gained ground on the Isle of Youth and later expanded to the rest of the Cuban archipelago.
