Havana.- The Phototheque of Cuba, in Havana’s Historic Heart, is hosting the photo exhibit “Cuba-Canada: A 100-year Look”, which will be open during the first half of August.

The exhibit, according to experts, covers 100 years of history in bilateral relations, which were established in 1903 with the first commercial mission in Yarmouth, New Scotland.

A wide range of commercial, cultural, scientific, sports and cooperation ties are included in the exhibit, thus allowing visitors to discover the two countries’ shared past.

Eusebio Leal, historian of the City of Havana, recalled that the Canadian Embassy in Cuba contributed to the restoration of Plaza Vieja (Old Square).
Cuba’s historic memory includes such Canadians personalities as Pierre Le Moyne de’Iberville, a soldier and sailor who died in the Villa de San Cristobal de La Habana in 1706, and William Ryan, a brigadier general in the Republic in Arms.
