HAVANA, December 8 (http://www.cubanet.org) - A concert featuring women rap performers will be the first of its kind in Cuba. It will be held December 17 at the Covarrubias Hall of the National Theatre, under the title Proven Presence.

Performers kicking off the event at 5:00 p.m. include the groups Esencia (Essence), Oye Habana (Listen Havana), Maryoris, Las positivas (The Positive Ones), and Las crudas (The Raw Ones).

“None of these female groups are included in the Cuban rap catalog,” said a source close to the concert, adding that organizers still expect a sell-out.
The Cuban rap catalog was created December 17 last year to promote Cuban rap performers in international markets.
