HAVANA (Reuters) - Robert Redford showed his new film about Che Guevara, “The Motorcycle Diaries,” to the widow and children of the legendary guerrilla fighter on Sunday.

“I came to present the film that I produced on Che Guevara and I am very happy to be in Cuba,” Redford told Reuters before the private screening at Havana’s Charles Chaplin cinema theater.

He watched the film with Guevara’s widow Aleida, daughter Aleidita and son Camilo, as well as Ramiro Valdes, a top military commander in Cuba’s communist government who fought with Guevara and Fidel Castro in the Sierra Maestra mountains.

The film, directed by Brazilian Walter Salles, is based on the diaries that Guevara wrote on a nine-month bike trip through South America in 1952 when he was an asthmatic 23-year-old medical student.

The trip opened his eyes to poverty in Latin American and he later joined Castro in Mexico where the Cuban leader was organizing a landing party to launch a guerrilla movement in Cuba that triumphed in 1959.

Guevara was executed by army troops after his capture in 1967 in the Bolivian jungle, where he had tried to start another revolution.

Redford flew to Cuba on Friday from the Sundance Film Festival (news - web sites), of which he is a backer and where “The Motorcycle Diaries” received a standing ovation at its debut a week ago.

I lost all respect for Mr. Redford.  If he
researched all his previous works as he
has done with the Che Guevara film that
he endorsed in Cuba, then he is not
credible.  Guevara has been one of the
criminals that killed people in the name’
of justice.  He did’nd know what the word
mean..He got killed the same way he
killed others.  There is Justice Mr. Redford

My comment is to Maria Moure and her views on Che Guevara.  First before you make any comments you need to pick up a book and read alittle about Che Guevara.  Read about what influenced him and what got him to do the things he did.  Why don’t you read alittle about the struggles that were going on during those times.  Read about how the “United Fruit Company” (Owned by the U.S. ) for years took land from latin americans and payed them low wages for there work and took there land to sell to large US corporations.  Read about how he saw thousands of people without medicine or medical ass. and how the The Great North did nothing to help.  Then read about how he got tired of not seeing anyone do anything about it and how he was going to make a change for not himself but for ALL his people.  See these are the same things that are going on today but you refuse to read about it or just ignore it and hide from the true.

It about time someone made a film about possibly the greatest reversionary that ever lived.  The man is a legend, not a TV, or sports legend but a proper legend.  The Americans (terrorists) thought that by murdering him they would stop him but now he will live forever.
    hasta la victoria siempre!

How appropriate that a Hollywood liberal would be cavorting with the family of a man who executed civilians with a .32 pistol, advocated the overthrow of all South American government, and was heavily involved in the Russian placement of missles in Havana. I always knew Redford was a socialist, but I didn’t realize he was a communist at heart as well.

Maria, you believe that the rich should have all the power and that the people who work for it should have no power and no money. When someone has the guts to stand up against evil, greedy capitalist goverments to help the mass majority, you thinks its wrong. Che fought against Capitalism to help the people he loved = COMMON MAN
CAPITALISM IS A ISLAND OF WEALTH SURROUNDED BY A SEA OF POVERTY. The mass majority are being oppressed by the minority because of small minded people like you.
Prepare for the revolution, for it is coming.

Che’s American daughter was Che’s daughter before Ms. Marsh was Che’s wife, and there has been murder after murder of witnesses of international intel due to Mr. Robert Redford’s ignorance of this.  The due order of respect is to go to the living daughter for permission and rights, and to make reciprocity to the American daughter who has endured high level harm because of Robert Redfords’ ignorance.  Mr. Fidel Castro has been more respectful of life in the process of editing time frame of the Cuban Revolution than the American Robert Redford.  What will Mr. Redford due to make up for the murders of witnesses to the international intel that have taken place becasue of Robert Redford’s busy successful life?  Will Redford make an effort to reach out to allow the life of Che’s daughter to be allowed here in the US or will he continue to allow hiw ignorance of neglect to rob the world of one more sacred life that valued international understanding and grace?  The nurse who Mr. Anderson describes harshly saying, “Che owned his %&#! with the nurse” was a lady and that is likely why Ms. Marsh was not mentioning her and the daughter of Che who attended Hildita’s birthday party in Cuba.  The daughter also was in the Revolution with the nurse (who has now been murdered by the oldest son, wife, and others) being young and impressionable; and the nurse was in Cuba for the wrappping of Che’s hand when it was injured before Santa Clara.

The deep thrust of the herd mentality of film-makers lust has again allowed the destruction of life, without respect for young women and mothers…a true demonstration in need of reaching out, with Robert Redford’s allowing the Daughter of Che to witness the murder of her own WWII nurse mom, while trying to stop it, while trying to think the best of Mr. Redford and the nations that respected this nurse. Predators have stolen precious life and work from the daughter and what is gained?  This daughter of Che was trusted to be at the White House during the Cuban missle crisis, to speak with President John F. Kennedy and Bobby Kennedy, to warn them that it was not Fidel trying to Kill Kennedys, but that it was her murdering brother and sister working with Lee Harvey Oswald.  Pray for grace here.  we have failed.  the nurse cleared Fidel Castro from the murder of Kennedy, even while being poisoned by her son in the hospital.  In respect for the soldiers she worked and worked to find answers in a cruel world.  The daughter - in - law changed her will to be disrespectful and the son fed the nurse (mom) poison to give her luekemia and rashes and he is still not behind bars.  Out of respect for the soldiers and life this nurse lived; and what now, the loss of the wisdom of the time where mom could have said hello to Ms. Marsh in person as a friend who shared the sufferings of this misunderstanding world, as a fellow soldier who operated in the field not denying care to someone she loved.  Mr. Robert Redford, will you reach out by calling your native son and making a reach out here?  Or will murder add to murder?  When does the greed stop to repel the murder of life, Mr. Robert Redford.
