A huge concert will be staged at Havana’s Jose Martí Revolution Square this month.

Sources from the organizing committee said that 195 musicians and more than 100 singers from seven Cuban choirs will take part in the concert.
Singer songwriter Silvio Rodríguez will perform, for the first time, music composed by Maestro Leo Brower for the cinema.

Brower himself will conduct the orchestra, whose repertoire includes the “Latin American Holy Father” by Favero-Brower-Benedetti, and the instrumental vocal piece “Carmina Buranga” by German composer Carl Orff.
Rodríguez, who will sing 11 Brower songs for which he made the musical arrangements, will be accompanied by the choirs Schola Cantorum Coralina, Exaudi, Polifonico de La Habana and Vocal Luna.

The concert is part of the closing gala of the 1st National Festival of Symphonic Orchestras, aimed at developing that musical expression in the country.
