Valuable historic objects stolen from the Emilio Bacardi Museum in Santiago de Cuba were brought back in less than 72 hours, thanks to investigators and members of the Interior Ministry, it was reported Monday.

The 84 museum pieces stolen included the gold watch of brigadier general Jose Maceo, one of the outstanding fighters of the 19th century in Cuba.

The pen used to sign the foundation of the museum, the first of its kind in Cuba, over a century ago, and hundreds of historic photos of the former Santiago de Cuba city had been also stolen.

Emilio Bacardi Museum, founded by the city’s first mayor, exhibits other attractions such as the first Egyptian mummy in Cuba, ceramic objects from the pre-Columbian era, and weapons used by fighters during the Independence War against Spain.
