Havana.- Cuba won a baseball tournament held in the Dutch city of Rotterdam, after defeating the local team in the finals.

The tournament, which held two all-around rounds, let the discussion for the title in the hands of the first two teams.

In that stage, the Netherlands was leading the tournament after beating Cuba twice, while the team from the largest Antillean Island was in the second position with three defeats, since it had lost to Chinese Taipei too.
However, in the decisive game, the Cuban team beat the locals 3 runs to 2, winning the tournament for the fifth time in a row.

This victory paves the Cuban team’s way to other major competitions, including the Pan-American Games in Santo Domingo in August, the World Cup in Havana in October, and the Pre-Olympic Tournament in Panama in November.

The Netherlands took its pre-Olympic team to the tournament, while Cuba competed with a team of veterans who are still playing in the national league.
