The Institute for Cuban and Cuban-American Studies (ICCAS) at the University of Miami has opened enrollment for an intensive three-day Cuban Studies Certificate Program to be held from February 15 – 17, 2013.

The weekend program’s expert instructors use a multi-disciplinary approach to educate participants about Cuba’s past and present while also looking at Cuba’s future issues. 

The program creates an ideal atmosphere for participants to interact, exchange ideas, and think innovatively about the challenges and opportunities awaiting Cuba.

The fee for the program is $495, which includes the recommended books for the course. The main professors for the course include, Jose Azel, Andy Gomez, Brian Latell, Pedro Roig, Jaime Suchlicki and the participation of guest lecturers. Breakfast will be provided all 3 days and lunch for the first two days.

Highlights of the Cuban Studies Certificate Program

FRIDAY February 15 from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm titled Cuba’s Past

Republican Cuba
The Cuban Revolution
Bay of Pigs
Cuban Missile Crisis

Lecturers are José Azel, Jaime Suchlicki and Brian Latell

SATURDAY February 16 from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm titled Cuba’s Present

Cuba’s Civil Society and Opposition
Cuba’s Leadership and Armed Forces
Cuba’s Economy and the Cuban Diaspora

Lecturers are Andy Gomez, Pedro Roig and José Azel

SUNDAY February 17 from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm titled Cuba’s Future

Central and Eastern European Transitions
Transitional Challenges and Opportunities
Business challenges and opportunities

Lecturer is José Azel
