Havana.- Cuban baseball will have a Hall of Fame, which will be located at the historic Palmar del Junco Stadium, in western Matanzas province.
A two-story building harmonically integrated into the sports facility will house the Hall of Fame.

The place was chosen because it was in Matanzas where the first official baseball game was played in Cuba on December 27, 1874.

In 1991, the Cuban Baseball Federation gave green light to build the said cultural and sports facility.

An allegoric sculpture of Martín Dihigo, also known as El Inmortal (The Immortal), will be erected on the second floor of the building, which will also have protocol halls, library, phototheque, archives and offices for the history commission.

The ground floor of the future Hall of Fame of Cuban baseball will house services, shops and a cafeteria, while an awarding square will be built outside.
