Email recieved from Latin America Working Group (The Havana Journal supports the LAWG)

Dear Cuba Policy Advocates:

UPDATE: We’re moving toward our goal for the e-appeal we sent you on April 12 to support the “Love, Loss, and Longing” Cuban-American family photo exhibit, its national tour, and our efforts at movement building! By the way, did you receive the invitation to the exhibit opening which we just emailed to you yesterday? We want you to know that we are putting your donations to good use! If you didn’t have a chance to look at it yesterday, check it out here: http://www.lawg.org/countries/cuba/aac-invite.htm . You can expect to receive additional invitations as the exhibit progresses across the country.

Thanks to your generous support, we have received (or have pledges for) $2,800 toward our goal of $8,000. Over a third of the way there!

This means that we need $5,200 to achieve our goal and be able to reach thousands and thousands of people (who can then reach Congress and the White House) about the travesty of U.S. policy toward Cuba and its cruel impact on people’s lives.

We are extremely grateful for the immediate show of support, and we know that with your help we can make it to our goal. Think of it this way: 52 donations of $100 or 104 donations of $50 meet our goal (or 260 donations of $20).

REMINDER: If you have laid aside our request, with good intentions, we urge you to look at it once more and contribute what you can. If your check isn’t in the mail yet, there is still time. Send your checks to LAWG or LAWGEF, 424 C Street NE, Washington, DC 20002. Or, log onto our secure on-line donation link at http://www.lawg.org/misc/Donations.htm ; we promise that the glitch getting your payment to go through has been corrected. Be sure to indicate Cuba Project in the appropriate space. And remember that every $20 helps!

We’ll keep you updated on plans for the photo display and its nationwide venues; the developing national schedule will be posted on our website soon. Don’t miss it!

Thanks again for your help!

Sincerely,

Mavis Anderson
