Havana.- The 8th CUBADISCO’2004 Festival granted awards to the best records released in Cuba in 2003.
The Grand Award went to singer Teresa García Caturla for her record “Llego Tete” (Tete Has Just Arrived), released by Bis Music. She also received the award in the Best Traditional Popular Music category.
Singer songwriter Silvio Rodríguez received the award in the Best Producer category, while Los Papines, Orquesta Aragon, flutist Richard Egües, Maestro Electo Silva and Dominican singer songwriter Víctor Víctor, won honorary awards.
“Siete” (Seven), a CD by Carlos Varela, won the awards in the Graphic Design and Trova-Pop-Rock Music categories, while Arnaldo y su Talisman won the award in the Pop and Video Clip categories.
The award in the Fusion category went to Lucía Huergo for her CD “Lucía”. Anaís Abreu won the CUBADISCO award in the Best Song category for her record “Alma” (Soul), while the award in the Best Recording category went to Giraldo Piloto and Klímax.
Cubanitos 20-02 won the award in the Hip-Hop category.
