Havana.- Cuba’s therapy to treat lymphoblastic leukemia has shown satisfactory results in children.

According to statistics from the Health Ministry, over 85 percent of children undergoing this kind of therapy completes treatment and can survive up to 20 years or be cured.

These results were shown in a 29-year-long study of over 400 patients treated in hospitals in Villa Clara, the City of Havana, Pinar del Río, Camagüey and Santiago de Cuba.

As an example, 90 percent of children treated at the Jose Luis Miranda Children’s Hospital, in central Villa Clara province, have survived.

Experts also highlighted the excellent results from bone marrow transplants, which can expand the patients’ life expectancy.
