The Cuban capital will host the 21st International Jazz Festival Plaza 2004, which will be held this month at the Karl Marx, Nacional and Mella theaters, as well as the Museum of Fine Arts.

In addition, jazz jams have been scheduled in Havana nightclubs like La Zorra y El Cuervo, Irakere Jazz Club, Delirio Habanero, Jazz Cafe and Club O’Farrill.

Artists from Argentina, Canada and Brazil will participate in the festival, along with first-line Cuban musicians, including pianist Jesús “Chucho” Valdes.

Canada will be represented by the music and dance company Decidedly Jazz and trombonist Hugh Fraser’s quintet, while pianist Wagner Tiso, guitarist Victor Biglione and saxophonist Leo Gandelman’s quintet will come from Brazil.

Other participants are guitarist Luis Salinas, from Argentina, and the trio Trovarroco, percussionists Jose Luis Quintana (Changuito) and Tata Güines, and saxophonist Germán Velazco, from Cuba.
