More than 250 foreign Marathoners from 35 countries confirmed their participation in the 15th Marathon of Havana (Marabana) on Sunday 14, the organizers announced here on Thursday.

Considered as the top road event of the island country, the competition will begin at 7:30 hours local time, starting and finishing in Havana’s Capitol.

The participants in the traditional event will vie for 59 titles in different categories in the distances of Marathon, half Marathon, and 15-, 10- and 5-kilometer races, among others.

This year, the race is included in the celebrations of the 485th anniversary of the foundation of Villa de San Cristobal and the Day of Physical Culture and Sports in the Caribbean nation (November 19).

A day before the marathon race will be the 6th edition of Maracuba, the most popular competition in the island, which will include 155 of the country’s 169 municipalities, starting at the same time, as a unique project worldwide, according to the organizing committee.
