Herman Cain learning to speak Cuban - video

Posted November 17, 2011 by publisher in Cuban Americans.

Excerpts from Kim Geiger article in Los Angeles Times
Asked by Miami Herald reporter Marc Caputo what he thinks of the “wet-foot, dry-foot” policy that allows Cubans who reach U.S. soil to stay, Cain was stumped.

“The wet-foot, dry-foot policy?” Cain asked, as if he had never heard of it.

The former pizza chain executive who markets himself as “a businessman, not a politician,” told a crowd gathered at Versailles restaurant in Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood that he wants “freedom for Cuba now!” but stopped short of denouncing Cuba’s communist government, according to a Reuters report.

Asked by a reporter what he thought of Obama’s policy to ease travel restrictions to Cuba, Cain dismissed the inquiry as a “gotcha question.”

But it was a question of Cain’s own that got him into trouble as he sipped Cuban-style coffee and sampled a croqueta while surrounded by cameras at the Versailles event… “How do you say delicious in Cuban?”

While we Cuba watchers may find this funny, I think this is actually good for Herman Cain. He wants to be an outsider so all he knows is that he has to go to Versailles to rub elbows with the Cubans in Miami. However, unlike John McCain, he did not kiss their ass and tell them how he is going to be tough on Fidel (since that hasn’t worked in 50 years anyway).

However, Mr. Cain should at least learn “Cuban” grin

Here’s another article with video of another question about Cuba… What about the wet-foot dry-foot policy?

After giving this more thought, I think Herman Cain is all done. If he doesn’t even know that deliciouso is Spanish for delicious, that’s pretty bad. And… not knowing that Cubans speak Spanish WHILE STANDING IN VERSAILLES? That’s even worse.

Then, when asked about the wet-foot dry-foot policy, WHILE IN MIAMI, and he reacts like a deer in the headlights? Forget it.

If he is that stupid to go to Miami without knowing the BASIC issues for Cuban Americans, then there are MANY more problems that will arise in the very near future.

I like(d) Herman Cain.

FYI, I don’t like Rick Perry.

I said a while back that Michelle Bachmann is too nutty to be President and she has proven me right on that.

I like Ron Paul but he can never get elected.

I can live with Mitt Romney and I did for four years while he was Governor of Massachusetts.

Newt Gingrich is looking pretty good. He will NEVER be stumped on any question.

And if you watch this second video, you can see that his heart just isn’t in it anymore.

Sure, maybe he had a long day but this is not a professional campaign. Apparently he does not have slick handlers which are needed today to at least avoid gaffes like these in Miami.
