After weeks of preparation, the Calle Ocho Festival is finally here and will bring the best of Latin food, music, and entertainment into the streets of Little Havana this Sunday.

Part of the popular Carnaval Miami season, the Calle Ocho Festival brings a fabulous finale to the two-week program of events.

Spread across a 23-block area in the heart of Miami, the festival features three distinct zones with entertainment and attractions for visitors of all ages.

Live music provides a continuous soundtrack to the day with bands and musicians performing a range of different musical styles across 30 different stages located on each block intersection.

Other attractions include a KidzZone with plenty of events especially for children, a food and drink area selling mouth watering dishes from all over the world and special cultural displays and workshops.

On Friday, the annual La Gloria Cubana Super Roll cigar rolling competition serves as a prelude to the annual Calle Ocho festival.

The Super Roll will bring two art forms to this year’s competition. While amateur cigar rollers try desperately to learn the art of cigar rolling, legendary Cuban artist Edin Gutierrez will chronicle the competition in a painting that will be given to the winner of the competition.

As if owning a Gutierrez original weren’t enough, the winning rolero will be inducted into the El Credito Cigar Factory’s Hall of Fame and will receive a custom-made humidor filled with 100 hand-crafted La Gloria Cubana cigars.

An estimated 1 million people attend the festival each year creating a fabulous party atmosphere.
