Cuba improving shipping ports and Isla de la Juventud ferry

Posted June 10, 2008 by publisher in Cuba Business.

Cuba’s port infrastructure has benefited from investment to improve operations.

Authorities pointed out that nearly 30 million dollars will be invested to dredge ports to increase their depth.

In that regard, works were completed in a section of the port of Cienfuegos, and improvements are underway in BatabanĂ³-Gerona and Havana.

Works will begin soon in the ports of Santiago de Cuba (east), Casasa (Ciego de Avila), Mariel and La Estopa Canal.

Over the past few months, tugboats and flat-bottomed boats have been remodeled, as well as the pilots’ fleet and the catamarans that carry passengers to and from Isla de la Juventud (Isle of Youth).
