The Second Business Forum of the Non-Aligned Movement to facilitate contact among entrepreneurs from NAM member and non-member countries, begins this Friday in Havana at the city’s Convention Center.
The two-day meeting will focus on important international market issues, said Miriam Martinez a representative from the Cuban Chamber of Commerce, the principal organizer of the event.

Martinez told ACN that 220 businesspersons from Asia, Africa, Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean are scheduled to take part in the discussions. They will seek to broaden their market scope and to explore possible ways to increase commercial exchange.

Likewise, there will be representatives from 24 chambers og commerce and related organizations, ministers, deputy ministers and national bank presidents from around the world, noted Martinez.

The first working panel, to take place following Friday’s opening session will deal with south-south cooperation in science, energy and the pharmaceutical-medical industries, as well as health and education.

This second NAM Business Forum meets under the framework of the Final Declaration from the 14th NAM Summit held in Havana in 2006, in which Cuba took the chair of the movement for the second time. Participants at this year’s event will attend the opening of Havana’s 25th International Trade Fair (FIHAV) scheduled to begin November 5.
