A new radiological equipment to inspect containers was installed at the port of Havana, as part of a strategy to boost international trade.
The equipment was made by China’s Nuctech Company and is a positive step to ensure customs security.

The new equipment scans a container in just 20 minutes, in contrast to four hours that were needed previously to inspect a container.

According to experts, the system can scan 20- and 40-foot containers and can detect wires up to 1.5 millimeters in diameter.

The system, which is totally autonomous and computerized, consists of a command room and a control room equipped with computers to process images, printers and four displays, among other elements.

The equipment allows customs authorities to scan containers without opening them.
