Florida rancher John Parke Wright struck a deal with Alimport, Cuba’s import agency, to add 50 cattle to the herd of 250 agreed on last year.
The agreement between Wright and the Cuban agency was formalized in Havana where Wright, CEO of J.P. Wright & Co., is attending the Boyeros Cattle Show.

Eighty Brangus heifers from the Strickland Ranch in Manatee County will be included in the shipment. The herd will be shipped from Port Manatee or the Port of Tampa in the next quarter.

A.R. Savage & Son Inc. in Tampa will advise Wright concerning shipping, letters of credit and payment.

Last year, Wright shipped 150 dairy cows to Cuba through the Port of Jacksonville and Port Everglades. They were the first significant cattle shipments to Cuba in 40 years.
