Cuba, Japan boost economic ties

Havana - The 12th economic conference between Cuba and Japan closed in Havana after signing of a protocol on boosting bilateral economic, commercial and scientific-technological relations.
The conference discussed measures to boost Japanese companies’ investment in Cuba as well as Japanese banks ‘s credit insurance of export to Cuba.
Japanese banks’ credit insurance of exports to Cuba considerably increased over the past four years, Cuban head delegate Ricardo Cabrisas told the conference. In 2003 alone, the two sides signed credit agreements worth more than 70 million USD, a year-on-year increase of 40 percent.
Japanese head delegate Shui Hisano said that Japan was interested in Cuba’s sugarcane products and bio-technology.
