Havana.- British entrepreneurs grouped in the United Kingdom-Cuba initiative expressed their interest in taking advantage of business opportunities provided by the Caribbean island’s economy.

According to British officials, the businesspeople focused their attention on such sectors as biotechnology, oil, tourism, informatics and the agri-industry.

The project, which was created in 1995 with the goal of strengthening nongovernmental and commercial relations, as well as investments between both countries, complements official ties between London and Havana.

The British commercial mission included representatives of nautical firms, suppliers for the pharmaceutical and basic industries, marketing services, real estate advisors, tourist development and swimming pool construction.

It also included executives from companies related to raw materials to produce paints and spare parts for diesel engines, financial experts, firms specialized in architectural services, and food suppliers.

The delegation was also made up of representatives of companies from the fields of bio-informatics, the pharmaceutical industry and producers of antibiotics, as well as importers of tropical fruits, and airlines.
