AS trade liberalisation and globalisation continue to take root in the international economy, there will be another opportunity for Barbados and other regional states to discuss ways of forging a common approach to get the most from these paradigms which will shape the future economic relations.

The Association of Caribbean States, the Ministry of Foreign Trade of Cuba and the Cuban Chamber of Commerce have come to together to host the Fourth Business Forum of the Greater Caribbean on June 10 and 11, 2003, in Cuba.

An official in Barbados said yesterday that from here on, Caribbean states have to work hard if they are to secure benefits within the new global environment.

He noted that there is still a lot of selfishness prevailing and that the larger countries are still bent on “securing the lion’s share of the benefits”.

The forum comes as part of the framework of the Caribbean International Fair, EXPOCARIBE, and will provide a unique opportunity for strengthening relations among the countries of the Greater Caribbean.

Participants will benefit from conferences and workshops, which will examine a number of relevant commercial topics of interest in the region. Additionally, entrepreneurs taking part in the forum will be able to present their products at no cost and a ten per cent discount will be given to those participants who wish to display their products in an individual EXPOCARIBE stand.
