Cuba is continuing to buy U.S. food despite a chill in relations due to its crackdown on dissidents. Iowa Agriculture Secretary Patty Judge says the Iowa-based cooperative F.C. Stone Group signed contracts worth about four million dollars.

The farmer co-op will sell corn and wheat to Cuba’s food import agency.  Judge says Cuban officials are interested in buying ice cream, animal feed and other products.  The sale of American food is an exception to the U.S.

trade embargo. Congressman Leonard Boswell, an Iowa Democrat and member of the trade delegation, calls for ending restrictions if Cuba frees jailed dissidents.
