Over 100 Vietnamese and Cuban business executives met in Havana on Sept. 24 to seek trade, business and investment opportunities and sign contracts.
Cabinet Minister Ricardo Cabrisas called on businesses from the two countries to further work in energy, agriculture, information technology, communication, bio-technology, transport, construction, fisheries and tourism.
Though Vietnam is Cuba’s second largest Asian trade partner, following China, the Cuban minister said there is still room for massive growth.
His view was shared by Minister of Construction Nguyen Hong Quan, who also pledged to support Cuban enterprises in conducting business in Vietnam.
The business meeting was part of an annual session held by the Vietnam-Cuba Intergovernmental Committee for Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation, of which Quan and Ricardo are Co-Chairs.

Interesting. I think Cuban government likes the Vietnamese business model.
However, I wonder if the Cuban people like the Vietnamese business model.
I think the Cuban people have put up with enough shit and just want to be free thinking something like “Screw all government controls and let us be Cuban”?

Viet Nam, like Red China, is booming. Meanwhile, Cuba’s economy has long since tanked, due to its inflexible system of “Socialism Forever”, aka socialism on steroids.
Cuba has no money to invest in Viet Nam, and Cuba’s credit rating couldn’t be any lower. Cuba would no doubt be more than pleased to receive whatever exports Viet Nam would care to send, but the problem is that Viet Nam would, of course, like to be paid for its goods.
Viet Nam would be well advised to examine Cuba’s long list of outstanding and unserviced Soviet debts.

Cuba will try to suck anything it can out of Vietnam whether it be free technology, food or advice on capitalism… of course they’ll want it on credit.
