Moron’s Sugar Museum, which is closely linked to tourist activity in Jardines de Rey (King’s Gardens), is one of the main attractions for foreign vacationers visiting that destination in eastern Cuba.

Tour operators have brought more than 12,000 vacationers interested in the history of sugar production and steam railroad, two options provided at the museum.

The enlargement of the museum as part of a remodeling project will allow attracting more vacationers from Great Britain, Canada and Germany, mainly, by this year’s end.

Experts from the museum pointed out that equipment located in the industrial areas, except for the bascule and the mills, will be dismantled to enlarge the museum.

The investment will allow exhibiting sections of steam locomotives and spare parts used since the early years of railroad, opening a conference hall and organizing the traditional excursion known as “Tras las Huellas del Azúcar” (Following the Imprints of Sugar).
