Havana.- The Cuban industry of sugarcane byproducts launched a new brand of rum under the name of Vacilon, which is being sold in the domestic market.

The new rum is produced in the distillery of the Urbano Noris sugar mill, in eastern Holguín province, 700 kilometers (435 miles) east of Havana, using special molasses as the main raw materials.

This kind of rum is 100-percent natural, softer and more pleasant than the traditional rums known in Cuba, even though it has 40 degrees of alcohol.
The factory, attached to the Sugar Ministry, has produced different kinds of alcoholic beverages over the past 16 years, and it produces other brands of rum, such as Corsario, Palma and Varadero.

The latter is exported to Europe, particularly Italy, and is one of the industry’s major exports as part of the sector’s diversification program.
