Representatives from over 400 firms from 10 countries are scheduled to take part in the 10th International Food Fair to be held in Havana from March 8 to 12.
The Expocuba exhibition hall will host business executives and producers from Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Spain, France, Italy, Mexico, Switzerland, Chile and Cuba, according to Humberto Cabezas, President of the event’s organizing committee.
For the first time, the Valencian Institute of Foreign Trade from Spain will attend the event, exchanging samples of products with Cuba, following which an import-export agreement will be signed.
During last year’s fair, a record number of deals were reached, with commercial sales and purchases reaching 21.5 million dollars. This year’s fair, with fewer countries but more firms in attendance, is expected to be equally a success, Cabezas noted.
Representatives from 154 Cuban firms from the food, fishing and sugar industries will be on board to promote their products. Competitions will take place among baked goods and grains; dairy, meat, cooking oil, fish, farm, beverage and alcohol products; as well as in the area of food processing equipment.
Cuban hotel and tourism chains will also take advantage of the fair to promote some of their goods and services.
