The services of digital telephony will benefit all provincial capitals in Cuba, as part of a program to improve communications on the Caribbean Island.
Digital telephony reached the cities of Las Tunas and Bayamo, both in eastern Cuba, thus completing an important stage in the development of that sector in the country.
With that program, 80 percent of the country’s telephone lines have been digitalized, thus guaranteeing better quality in transmission and reception of messages.
Digital telephony allows users to benefit from complementary services, like the call-on-hold and automatic alarm, among others.
The improvements also benefit clients who still have analogical lines, because they can make automatic long-distance calls from anywhere in the country if the call is routed through a digital plant.
The Empresa de Telecomunicaciones de Cuba S.A. (ETECSA) pointed out that more than 43,000 new lines for private users and 27,000 public stations will be installed this year.
