I believe that we need to open our doors and trade with Cuba.

When it comes to tyrants, China is as tyrannical as a country can get. Look at what they do to dissidents and what they have done to American citizens of Chinese descent.

The Chinese persecute Tibetans and have all but eliminated their religion.

But we trade freely with China and have invested billions in that country, yet continue to beat up on a small country in our hemisphere because of a “dictator.”

I firmly believe it is simply a matter of economics: We make money in China, and cannot do a thing with them through sanctions or, heaven forbid, militarily.

Cuba can be handled easily with economic sanctions and without fear of reprisals. We are so bold as to actually still have a military base there, Guantanamo Bay. Do you think for one second that China, North Korea, Russia or some other nation would stand for that?

Let’s keep on bullying Cuba, though. Do you suppose it has something to do with the president’s brother being governor of Florida and the Cuban vote there? - Charles Gwinn

Many relatives of “native” Cu*bans that live in the U S would like to send goods and money to their poor sibs in Cu*ba.

Here’ just a thought for now, guys.

Australia (as far as I know) has not slapped any sanctions on Cu*ba.

I’m not even sure if I could be a middleman for $ transfers from the U S to Oz and from here to Cu*ba, with (my) available time being of the essence more than anything, but it’ worth considering as a possibility.

I could possible get a small group together to work it. There are no laws against it here, I’m sure.

I don’t agree with Fi*del being squeezed just to aid “Jebbo” in Florida. It has an odor about it.

    God bless….
