Cuba said that it will deport wanted businessman Carlos Ahumada back to Mexico later Wednesday.

Cuba’s Foreign Ministry said in a statement that Mr. Ahumada is wanted on fraud charges in Mexico and that he will be returned there on a Cubana de Aviacion flight.

The businessman fled to the island about two months ago, after local television in Mexico aired videos of him passing cash to officials of the leftist Democratic Revolution Party.

Cuban authorities detained Mr. Ahumada in March, after Mexico issued an arrest warrant for him on charges of bribing officials in Mexico City.

Prosecutors also are investigating whether some of Mr. Ahumada’s companies have taken millions of dollars for services they never performed.

Some information for this report provided by AP and Reuters.
