Cuba and China are boosting tourist cooperation with the execution of major projects.

According to experts, authorities from the two countries are working to establish direct flights to make it easier for Chinese tourists to travel to the Caribbean Island.

Some 40 Chinese travel agencies with more than 500 branches are working with Havana in the organization of tourist packages in Cuba.

Experts estimated that the number of Chinese tourists visiting Cuba grew 40 percent in 2004 compared to the previous year.

In addition, the joint venture Shanghai-Sun-Cuba was set up by Corporacion Cubanacn and the Chinese firm Suntime to carry out infrastructure works in Shanghai and Havana.

A five-star hotel will be built at Havana’s Hemingway Marina, and there exists the possibility of building golf courses, among other facilities.
